The Iowa College Foundation (ICF) is pleased to announce that Tara K. Connolly, MNM, has begun serving as President, becoming the first woman to lead the organization in its 74-year history.
Connolly succeeds Ed Finn, who retired after a decade of dedicated leadership. During her year as President-Elect, she helped lead a strategic refresh that resulted in a renewed mission and vision, strengthened governance, and a refreshed brand that reflects ICF’s commitment to expanding opportunity through independent higher education.
“The Iowa College Foundation is better positioned than ever to serve students and our member institutions,” said Marty Fredericks, Chair of the Iowa College Foundation Board of Governors. “Tara brings strategic leadership, deep fundraising experience, and a genuine commitment to Iowa’s independent colleges and the students they serve. We are excited to have her guiding ICF into this next chapter.”
Connolly earned her bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to advancing educational opportunity, strengthening nonprofit organizations, and building partnerships that create lasting impact for students and communities.
“It is an incredible honor to serve as President of the Iowa College Foundation,” Connolly said. “Independent colleges and universities play a vital role in preparing future leaders and strengthening communities. I look forward to working alongside our member institutions, donors, and partners to expand access to higher education, strengthen Iowa’s workforce, and invest in the future of our state.”
Looking Ahead
As President, Connolly will continue building partnerships with donors, businesses, foundations, and community leaders to expand scholarship opportunities and strengthen support for Iowa’s 21 member colleges and universities. She will also lead collaborative initiatives that connect higher education with workforce needs, helping ensure Iowa students are prepared to live, work, and lead in the state they call home.
