Central College announces $20k tuition drop for Fall 2020

A "historic" price plummet introduced this week Central College could reinvigorate the conversation about the cost of higher education. According to Central’s website, leaders say the price change brings a new approach to tuition in Iowa, offering transparency to what students and families actually pay. Previously, tuition at Central was offset with high financial aid and scholarships, and virtually students paid less than the published price. Mark Putnam, president of Central College, said the change came after years of studies and talking with parents put off by the high cost of a college education. The price is also a more accurate reflection of what it takes to provide a person with a four-year degree, he said.
