Let’s
Keep Iowa Students in Iowa
ICF
was fortunate to have The Harold R. Bechtel Testamentary Charitable
Trust, FBL Financial Group, Grain Processing Corporation and The
Fred Maytag Family Foundation as sponsors of this $100,000 challenge
program in 2002-2003.
We
are pleased to announce that these same sponsors have agreed to
continue their commitment in 2003-2004, and they challenge the
Iowa business community to join them in assisting students with
valuable scholarship support.
The
Let’s Keep Iowa Students in Iowa Challenge Program was started
in 1989 to reflect the sponsors’ deep commitment to private
higher education and also for the future of Iowa. Each sponsor
of the program has been extremely willing to invest in the future
of the students of Iowa. A student who stays in Iowa after graduation
to live and work is an investment that pays for itself many times
over. Since nearly 70% of our Iowa graduates
over the past 12 years – and almost 20% of our out-of-state
grads – have remained in Iowa, this investment continues
to pay dividends for the state.
Thanks
to the generosity of businesses and individuals across Iowa, the
Let’s Keep Iowa Students in Iowa Challenge Program again
exceeded the $100,000 challenge fund last year. As a result, ICF
awarded almost 200 Iowa Challenge Scholarships averaging $1,000
each to Iowa students at its member colleges and universities.
ICF wishes to congratulate these students.
Here’s
how the program works:
All
new, increased or reinstated gifts of $250 and above will be matched
by the sponsors of the program. Thus, a gift of $250 effectively
becomes $500; or $1,000 becomes $2,000.
Once
the $100,000 challenge fund is fully matched, all dollars will
be awarded to Iowa students attending ICF’s member colleges.
During the 14 years of the program’s existence, more than
$2.8 million has been awarded as Iowa Challenge Scholarships to
approximately 2,800 students at our colleges and universities.
ICF
offers its heartfelt thanks to The Harold R. Bechtel Testamentary
Charitable Trust, FBL Financial Group, Grain Processing Corporation
and The Fred Maytag Family Foundation for making this program
a reality again this year.
Additional
Scholarship Programs
In
addition to the Iowa Challenge Scholarship Program, ICF also administers
scholarship programs for businesses, foundations and individual
donors. Many thanks to all of the supporters of these important
programs!
MAJOR
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
(Investment of $25,000+)
CARVER
SCHOLARS
Funded by the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust, the first Carver
scholars were selected in 1989. During the program’s 14
years, several hundred deserving students were given the opportunity
to pursue their education in spite of unusual circumstances in
their lives that could prevent them from attaining a college degree.
ICF is grateful to the Carver Trust for its long-term commitment
to this scholarship program and allowing ICF to administer this
program for its member colleges and universities. ICF is proud
to select 27 students to receive renewal awards in 2003-2004.
GEORGE
WASHINGTON CARVER/HENRY A. WALLACE SCHOLARSHIPS
Because of its long and generous commitment to private higher

THE
H. DALE AND MRS. LOIS BRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

to get a college education. The Bright Scholarship Program awards
$2,500 scholarships each year to students from six southern Iowa
counties who attend ICF’s member colleges.
HORMEL
FOODS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
With the generous support of Hormel Foods, ICF awards $2,000 scholarships

ICF’s member colleges and students at the same time.

ICF. The UPS Endowment’s $87,500 gift in 2002-2003 was awarded
